Chobe National Park

Chobe is home to Africa's largest population of wild elephants and we love how the park redefines all notions of scale. Spotting a herd of 30 is unforgettable, with babies swinging their trunks and old males displaying proud tusks. Surrounding yourself with tens of thousands of elephants is unfathomable.

Which animals will you see in Chobe National Park?

On a single game drive you'll see hundreds and hundreds of majestic elephants. The thick Chobe woodland is also a favourite for giraffe, who congregate in equally inspiring numbers. Then there are the colobus and vervet monkeys, who regularly swing past the camps.

Chobe's canopy is a great hideout for the predators and they can be challenging to find. But our team helps connect you with the best local guides, who have an intimate understanding of how to uncover the big cats' camouflage. Running across the north of the park, the Chobe River provides a popular meeting point for most of the park's other mammals; we find a sunset boat cruise brings an intrepid day to a calm conclusion.

Chobe National Park is full of activities.

We're big fans of this vast park in northern Botswana and not just because of the wildlife. A safari in Chobe is very flexible and we have a full range of experiences that can respond to your interests, from private mobile camps to lavish lodges on the river, unique walking safaris to bush picnics. While the game drives provide a rugged adventure, a serene Chobe River cruise is all about sitting back and admiring the life along the water, like hippos yawning or elephant herds sharing a trumpeted greeting.

The beauty of nearby private concessions.

Three exceptional private concessions offer a more exclusive experience to the west of the park. While expensive, the feeling of being alone in such a vast, untouched landscape is truly inspiring, especially when lion prides are clashing with buffalos, or young elephants are chasing warthogs at a waterhole. Destinations like the Linyanti and Selinda concessions also offer some of Africa's finest bush accommodation, blending contemporary luxury with the raw authenticity of the wild.

This is one of our favourite parks in Africa and it matters to us that you see the best of it.
