Majeka House

Winelands, South Africa

Majeka House envelops you in the charms of Stellenbosch. Distinctive Cape Dutch architecture sets the scene, expressive views inspire the senses, and the best of South Africa’s wine is on your doorstep. The hotel’s design celebrates the inimitability of the Winelands, daring to be different and invariably seducing you with its subtleties and nuance.

Every time we’ve visited, Majeka House has felt like a home away from home. For all the modern luxury, this is an unpretentious hotel with a very laid-back atmosphere. The private terraces are a fabulous place to spend the evening while the inviting spa is a big favourite of ours. Rooms are exceptionally appointed, blurring any distinction between old-world elegance and modern chic.

Majeka House feels far more expensive than its actual price tag. And that’s what makes it really unbeatable. Both Stellenbosch town and the valley’s many vineyards are within easy reach. If you’ve had enough wine, sip on a fynbos mojito in the hotel’s bar before savouring the gastronomic delights of the on-site Makaron restaurant.

We’ve been championing Majeka House since long before it was celebrated by the 2017 Conde Nast Johansens awards. Now is a great time to discover this boutique property, before it shoots to world fame.
