Sanctuary Baines' Camp
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Located in a private concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is small and exclusive. We love how economically friendly this camp is – much of the camp is built with cans collected by the local community – whilst still offering a luxurious charm.
The five en-suite tents dotted along the Bora River are gorgeous, featuring an opulent double bed that can be pulled out onto the veranda for a relaxing snooze under the stars. You’ll even have a vintage copper bath placed on your veranda one evening - there’s simply nothing more indulgent than enjoying a rejuvenating bath surrounded by lanterns and looking out onto the plains.
We love the indulgent main area that juts out of the river, sitting on circular raised decking. The dining and lounge areas are minimalist yet chic, using a few traditional African furnishings to create an authentic feel. For a sociable al fresco evening, the small boma with its fire pit and views of the river is perfect.
There is an abundance of wildlife to discover during your stay here. From watching hippos laze by the river during a mokoro boat safari, to embarking on exciting night drives, there’s plenty of opportunities to spot elusive animals.
The camp is also only one of two that offer the amazing experience of walking with elephants. We couldn’t recommend this unique excursion enough – the feeling of strolling and having lunch alongside these magnificent creatures is truly phenomenal.
