Balloon Safari Trips in Africa

This type of safari is a once in a lifetime experience. Floating into the air as the rising sun paints the sky with beautiful colours is something you’ll never forget, and we love that jaw-dropping moment you fly over grazing buffalo herds, or rustle the leaves of an acacia tree where a giraffe feeds.

The activity starts early.

Waking up at 5am to travel to the launch site might be an early start – but it’s worth every moment of lost sleep to see incredible nocturnal animals scavenging in the bushes, before watching your team inflate the balloon and get the basket ready. The gorgeous sunrise is well worth the early wakeup call too, and it starts to appear as your balloon gradually rises, using the wind currents to guide it around the expansive landscapes.

Every adventure is different.

Despite us enjoying several African hot air balloon safaris, no journey has ever been the same. Depending on the wind, your balloon flight will shift from floating high in the sky and offering panoramic views of unspoilt wilderness, to travelling low enough to see the impressive wildlife at a whole new angle. Gliding gracefully over landscapes not so easily seen on the road, a balloon safari is an extraordinary way to really immerse yourself in Africa’s natural beauty.

The best places.

We endeavour to make your balloon safari experience as exclusive as possible, taking you to launch sites where the baskets are smaller, and the safaris much more bespoke. Of course, a balloon ride over the Masai Mara in Kenya and Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park shouldn’t be overlooked, but we have plenty more intimate locations you won’t want to miss too. From the more private wildlife safaris at Kafue National Park in Zambia, to a unique flight over the soaring sand dunes in Sossusvlei in Namibia, we will ensure your experience is breath taking.

An ending in style.

Balloon safari trips can last between half an hour and two hours, and is a pretty expensive activity, but we feel it’s worth it for the incredible bird’s eye view of Africa’s unspoilt sceneries. Better yet, each safari ends with a sumptuous champagne bush breakfast, where you can tuck into delicious food and chat about the life-changing experience. We’ll toast to that.
