Manda Bay

Kenya

After a 20-minute boat transfer from Lamu airstrip to the north of Lamu, you’ll find yourself on the doorstep of Manda Bay, a gorgeous boutique hotel offering wonderful barefoot luxury. We love spending the days enjoying various water sports, before ending the night stargazing atop the sand dunes.

There are 10 individual cottages altogether, all built with natural materials and nestled in secluded locations. The décor and architecture evokes a wonderful rustic beach-house vibe thanks to their thatched roofs and beds made from local wood. The Garden Rooms are tucked away and perfect for families, whilst the Sea View Rooms sit directly behind the Beachfront Rooms, which are only a few steps away from the calm water.

Along the waterfront sits Manda Bay’s lounge and bar area, and there’s also a lovely swimming pool that overlooks the beach. Meals here are very relaxed and informal, serving up incredibly fresh fish straight from the hotel’s sailing boat, Utamaduni. Enjoy a spot of lunch by the sparkling pool, or hop on the sailing boat for a unique dining experience.

Please note: On your return, you will need to overnight in Nairobi.
