The unspoilt wilderness of Gonarezhou is a haven for elephants, with lush forest-clad hills and a serene atmosphere. Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge is clearly inspired by these tranquil surroundings, with remote thatched roofs seamlessly blending into the trees to create a secret hideaway.
The 10 Luxury Rooms that poke out of the trees are wonderfully intimate, featuring a private balcony and seating area that will make you feel like the only person for miles. Two of the Luxury Rooms sit next to each other with a large interconnecting balcony, perfect for adventurous families. A little way from the main area lies Nhambo Camp, a luxurious add-on featuring four self-catering chalets and one family chalet that sleeps up to six guests. With their own plunge pool, BBQ area and kitchen, you’ll have all you need for a secluded stay.
The main camp area is simple yet elegant, using natural materials to create an indulgent back-to-nature feel. The shaded swimming pool, lounge, library, bar and dining room are surrounded by luscious gardens, and the wonderful al-fresco deck offers wonderful views of the magnificent crocodiles, hippo and elephants basking in the river.
