Onguma Tree Top Camp

Etosha, Namibia

If your dream safari comes with a true wilderness feel then Onguma Tree Top Camp catapults you in the rhythm of the wild. Perched above a permanent waterhole in Onguma Reserve, it’s a camp that brings safari to you. Lions, zebra, giraffe, jackals, kudu...just sit back and watch the show.

Built from thatch and canvas, the four tented suites are raised above the ground on stilts. It feels like you’re in the trees and there’s nothing artificial breaking the panorama in any direction. Usually you’re not looking out but down, where animals drink from an often-crowded waterhole. It creates an atmosphere that’s as surreal as it is serene. Every evening, the staff bring up a drawbridge, so animals don’t get too close in the dark.

Through the night you’ll hear the sounds of the wild. Then through the morning you’ll game drive next to the giants of the desert savannah. Etosha National Park is open and expressive, a place for untrammelled adventure and seeking out the largest concentrations of wildlife. Combine this with a more intimate discovery in the Onguma Reserve, which is exclusive to guests at one of the Onguma camps.

We’d highly recommend taking up the opportunity to go on a guided walk and nighttime drive in Onguma, something that’s not possible in Etosha. While this celebrates Tree Top Camp as a place for adventure, we’re also huge fans of how the camp encourages every visitor to relax amongst the wonders of the wild.
