Wolwedans Dune Camp

Sesriem/Sossusvlei, Namibia

A small, intimate camp run by only female staff, we love how down-to-earth this camp feels. Located in the NambiRand Nature Reserve and perched on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, the astounding views stretch over a horizon of barren desert plains and soaring mountains.

There are six tents altogether, including two family units. With a maximum of just 16 guests, even if the camp is fully booked, you’ll be treated to a serene and secluded experience. Each canvas tent sits atop a private wooden platform, boasting a small lounge area and an outdoor deck with stunning views. We love that the walls can be rolled up to create an open-air vibe.

The main tent is charming, with cosy seating areas, an open-kitchen and a communal dining area lit by lanterns and decorated with cacti and gorgeous photography prints. The expansive outdoor deck even has a little campfire area – the ideal spot to drink and chat about the days gone by.

There is much to explore in the camp’s surrounding areas, best seen on a morning or afternoon nature drive. For a truly immersive experience, we’d recommend enjoying one of the full-day safaris, which includes a picnic lunch out on the reserve.
