Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge
Chobe National Park, Botswana
Opulent and exclusive, Savute Elephant Camp has a stunning location along the Savute Channel in Chobe National Park. 12 luxurious tents are raised high above the water, creating a relaxed space to watch the resident wildlife roll by. You don’t even need safari activities here, such is the concentration of big animals around the lodge.
We’ve always been impressed by how this lodge combines modern luxuries with the attractions of the wild. Find leopard and cheetahs on a morning game drive, then lounge on a private wooden verandah; spend your afternoons watching elephants from the large swimming pool; then dine privately beneath the stars as hundreds of wild animals are roaming the plains below.
The tents are huge, stretching for over 100 square metres with solid wooden floors and all the mod cons, such as air conditioning and a heating system. There’s even a phone so you can call the bar and request anything from the generous menu of inclusive drinks. It all makes for a very romantic and private experience.
Game drives fill the day and they’re relaxed affairs, with a morning and afternoon drive allowing for plenty of time to sit back and lounge at the lodge.
