Jack's Camp

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Botswana

Be transported back to the old-world glamour of 1940’s safaris at Jack’s Camp, nestled in a private area of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Traditional yet with a touch of Bedouin flair, we can’t get enough of the camp’s romantic vibe and beautiful décor.

There are 10 tents altogether, all featuring a double bed, an old-style writing desk, and incredible Arabic inspired canvas walls. The rich colours and authentic African paintings really romanticise each tent, creating a luxurious retreat that contrasts with the rugged surroundings. We love the vintage lounge chairs that sit on the private veranda – it’s the perfect place to watch the world go by.

The mess tent is just as exuberant, the intricately patterned walls adorned with paintings, drawings and sculptures. The dining area is perfect for a decadent dinner, its long tables and bright décor providing a great place to socialise with other travellers, whilst there’s also a comfy lounge area and a billiards table. There’s even a swimming pool pavilion for a relaxing, shaded swim.

We love the wide range of activities on offer here. From quad biking across the shimmering pans and meeting curious meerkats at Meerkat Manor, to embarking on a fascinating nature walk with San Bushmen and bird watching, there’s plenty to do in between the brilliant game drives.
