Okavango Delta, Botswana
The Chitabe Concession has a dreamy location, bordered on three sides by the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve. Wildlife roams freely yet there’s hardly another person for miles and miles. If you’re looking for an exclusive safari experience that’s packed with Okavango’s big game, Chitabe Camp is an ideal choice.
Although the camp overlooks a beautiful lagoon, you’ll be on an iconic land-based Okavango experience, with exhilarating daytime and nighttime game drives. Lion pride lounge about, wild dogs are out hunting, leopards and cheetahs are relatively easy to spot, and you’ll be lost in a world shared by all Okavango’s mammals: elephant, giraffe, hippos, plus a full range of antelopes.
We’re always continually impressed by the quality of the accommodation. This is a classic Okavango tented camp, with wooden walkways weaving through the trees and wildlife roaming beneath your eyes. We’ve found it to be surprisingly luxurious and can’t get enough of the views from the private outdoor shower.
Chitabe has its own airstrip and you really need three days here. There’s so much wildlife to discover, both on the game drives and around the camp. If you’re only planning a single stop in the Okavango Delta, then the diversity and abundance should put this iconic camp high on your list.
Chitabe Camp is scheduled to be closed for refurbishment from January to May 2018.
