Shumba Camp

Kafue National Park, Zambia

With a name meaning ‘lion’, there’s no doubt you’ll encounter impressive prides prowling the plains near Shumba Camp. Located on a tree island in the heart of the Busanga Plains, this luxurious tented lodge creates a classic African safari ambience.

Intimacy is rife at this beautiful lodge, with only six tented rooms dotted around the grassy plains. All of the rooms are elevated on large wooden decks, offering phenomenal views from the clear canvas walls that can be pulled open to bring in the morning light.

Those hoping to socialise with the small amount of guests here will relish the bar and dining area, shaded by towering fig trees and creating a brilliant al fresco ambience. The boma is perfect for swapping stories by the fire, whilst the main veranda presents an ideal spot for star gazing.

With plains full of incredible wildlife, including wild dog and cheetah, it’s no wonder Shumba Camp offers a variety of ways to spot them, including fascinating walking safaris, and exciting night drives.
