Nkwali Camp
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
With bamboo woven walls, kooky thatched roofs, and beautiful views of South Luangwa National Park, Nkwali Camp evokes a sense of rustic luxury. Built on the banks of the Luangwa River, classic African safari style is wonderfully married with contemporary luxuries.
The six chalets are unique and picturesque, with open front walls and quirky hut-style architecture. The open fronts lead out onto stunning views of the never-ending plains, offering a front row seat from the comfort of your bed. The décor is very minimal, yet still extremely welcoming, and the outdoor seating area is the perfect spot for a cup of tea and a read of your book. In the evenings, your chalet will be closed with Constantia grill doors.
Nestled under the shade of towering ebony, sausage and mahogany trees, the main dining room is a brilliant space to swap stories with other travellers, whilst the bar built around a giant ebony tree is great for sipping a G&T and watching the sun set over the horizon. Fancy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool on a hot afternoon? This gorgeous area is regularly visited by elephant and other game looking for a quick drink.
The camp is set on private land just outside South Luangwa National Park, perfect for bespoke walking safaris and night drives. Nevertheless, exclusive access to the National Park means you get the best of both worlds, and it’s only a quick boat or pontoon ride to the park’s riverbank.
