Tongabezi Lodge

Livingstone, Zambia

A romantic hideaway nestled along the banks of the Zambezi River, Tongabezi Lodge offers a rustic yet luxurious escape, where you’re free to set your own pace and do whatever you please, whenever you please.

There are six private houses and five River Cottages altogether, all sleeping two to five people and offering wonderful décor and equally as spectacular views. The five River Cottages are whimsical in design, with a fantastic fusion of Tongabezi and Zambian style, and floor to ceiling glass windows that open out onto a great, scenic terrace.

The Honeymoon House is an indulgent affair, and offering one of the best views of the endless plains, whilst the Bird House is nestled on a cliff and offers a brilliant private terrace ideal for dining under the stars. The Tree House, perched against a basalt rock bed and hidden amongst Ebony trees, is decadent with its open-front and river views, and the Dog House is designed much like a cosy country home, with three separate decks connected by raised walkways.

Meanwhile, The Nut House has a more contemporary feel thanks to its diverse mix of African art, textiles and textures, plus a gorgeous private garden and pool. Last but not least is the Garden House, the ideal home for an adventurous family, with homely furnishings, two en-suite bedrooms, a large lounge, a garden and a plunge pool.

Dining at Tongabezi Lodge can either be an intimate affair, or a social gathering. Each cottage and house has its own designated dining area for those hoping to enjoy a romantic meal, whilst the main lodge itself has three open air dining decks for those looking for a new stunning view. Our favourite way to dine has to be on the Sampan anchored offshore in the Zambezi River, where your dedicated waiters will deliver your dinner by canoe.

There are plenty of activities to entertain you, too, from the classic game drives and bush walks, to the unique boating safaris and trips to the Victoria Falls.
