Tena Tena Camp
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Tena Tena Camp has been a favourite with safari lovers for many years, and with its kooky yet rustic main area, beautiful location and warm atmosphere, we can see why. Nestled between the Luangwa River and a complex lagoon system in the exclusive Nsefu Sector, you’ll feel very secluded and at one with nature here.
There are six tents altogether, including five twin rooms, and one double/honeymoon tent. All of them are quite traditional and simplistic, yet the stunning river views and cosy bed will certain make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Tena Tena is translated as ‘temporary home’, and you’ll definitely feel the comforting home-away-from-home vibe here.
Hidden beneath a lush grove of mahogany trees and built around a termite mould, the main area is very charming indeed thanks to its large tented ceiling and multiple lounging areas. There are plenty of comfy sofas to unwind in, and it’s the perfect place to watch animals roam by with a glass of wine.
South Luangwa National Park is full of incredible wildlife, from gruff hippo and elephant, to elegant giraffe and lions, and there are a variety of activities to help you tick each one off your list. Game drives, night drives, walking safaris…life at Tena Tena Camp is focused on spectacular safari experiences.
