Overlooking the peaceful Zambezi River and sitting opposite the Mana Pools World Heritage Site, Royal Zambezi Lodge offers simplistic luxury amidst some of the area’s most unspoilt landscapes. Home to elephant, lion, leopard, hippo and waterbuck, this luxury lodge really hones in on the classic safari experience.

There are 15 canvas rooms altogether, all nestled under shady mature trees and offering a rustic feel with their thatched roofs, canvas walls, and cosy lounge areas. The Classic Suites are light and airy, with lots of white furnishings and a lovely wooden decking area. The Deluxe Suites also have a shaded decking area, this time adorned with a plunge pool, a private sala, and a free-standing copper bath. Last are the Presidential Suites, with lots of space and a beautiful veranda overlooking the river, perfect for those who wish to watch animals graze as they relax in their plunge pool or outdoor free-standing bath.

The open plan dining and lounge areas are warm and inviting, with roaring fireplaces and comfy sofas, whilst the infinity pool and adorning sun loungers are perfect for unwinding. After an exhilarating day, we love venturing to the Sausage Tree Bar to watch the sunset and swap our adventure stories with other travellers, or even listen to a guide’s exciting tales of memorable encounters.

With so much incredible wildlife nearby, it’s no wonder this luxury lodge offers a plethora of activities. From game drives and fishing trips, to sunset river cruises and canoe safaris, Zambia’s incredible wildlife is waiting to be discovered.
