Old Mondoro
Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia
An intimate, back-to-bush experience is one of Africa’s greatest treasures, and Old Mondoro is one of our favourite places to enjoy this unique atmosphere. Located in the luscious Lower Zambezi National Park, this rustic tented camp offers wonderful wildlife sightings amidst beautiful scenery.
There are eight chalets altogether, all featuring a large timber decking area with a daybed. The mix of reed and canvas create a unique atmosphere, making you feel as if you’re truly out in the bush. Overlooking islands abundant in hippo and Acacia groves regularly visited by elephants, every day you’ll wake with an incredible view.
Though the Zambian landscapes lead themselves to needing a bit more patience when on game drives, your patience will be well rewarded with spectacular views of wild elephant, hippo, crocodile and many leopards. There’s plenty of other great ways to spot the eclectic wildlife too, from leisurely canoe and river safaris, to exciting bush walks and catching and releasing tiger fish. After a morning of excitement, why not enjoy an afternoon tea overlooking the river, or dine under the stars in the evening and tuck into delightful African and European fusions.
