Murchison River Lodge
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
Murchison River Lodge is a simple but beautifully located lodge on the edge of the Nile.
The Main building overlooks the rivers edge where you can listen to the resident hippo snorting all day and night. The bar and restaurant are open sided so you really feel like you are in the atmosphere of the park. There is a fire pit close to the waterside making for an exciting pre or post dinner drink.
The main section of the park for game viewing is set just across the river so it is usually just the hippo and small antelope who are likely to make an appearance in the gardens.
This property features both lodge and tented accommodation, although we would only recommend the tents for a stay at this property.
The tents are fairly basic but completely adequate. They contain twin beds and a small storage area for clothing and suitcases. The bathroom is a good size with a nice open shower, it is housed in a solid construction at the rear of the tent with the thatched roof overhead and is sealed with mesh and canvas.
The property is only a 10 minute drive to get to the ferry crossing for the game viewing in the northern section of the park. The ferry itself takes only 5 minutes to cross.
