Engagi Lodge

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

As soon as you step into this lodge you know you have selected the right place to stay. The instant spectacular views up the mountains over lush forested areas set in a relaxed and luxurious setting is simply perfect. The setting of this lodge is without a doubt our favourite in the Bwindi area.

The restaurant, lounge and bar is in one large combined area, but tastefully divided so it still feels cosy.  This main building is predominantly stone built from local rocks and looks simply beautiful.  It is open on the mountain sides to give uninterrupted views and a lovely place to relax during the daytime.  It combines a rustic but luxurious feel to the property.  The lounge section is set around  a lovely fireplace to keep you warm on those chilly evenings.  There are also charcoal burners on the terrace for those who prefer.

There are just 8 cottages set around the grounds.  These again are stone and wooden built.  The cottages are spacious and simply but comfortably furnished.  Bathrooms are modern and spacious.  All cottages so have a small balcony perfect for relaxing, but guests tend to relax in the main area on the terrace area which is comfortable and has superior views.

The lodge is not far from the main Bwindi gates so easy access in the morning to get ready for your trek.

Note:  Gorilla Permits are extra from $450-650 per trek depending on time of year which will be secured at the time of booking as they are limited
