Buhoma Lodge
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda
This is one of our favourite places to stay for access to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The restaurant, lounge and bar is on the higher floor of the main building and has open sides so you can truly feel the atmosphere of the surrounding forest area, and we love the welcoming ambience here. The building is large enough so you can have your space, whilst still compact enough that you get a great atmosphere and interaction with the other guests who are staying. We love sitting by the bar in the cosy sofas, swapping exciting gorilla trek stories with other guests.
There are 10 rooms (chalets) built up into the hills above the main building with access via wooden stairways. The rooms are quite close together, but offer enough privacy for a secluded stay. All have en-suite bathrooms which are spacious and well equipped, and are rustically built using many local materials. They may be relatively small, but they're extremely comfortable. The windows are insect proof mesh giving you the feel of being in a tented/canvas environment, and you will have a small veranda looking out towards the mountains where you will seek the magnificent mountain gorillas.
The lodge is located inside the national park and is opposite the Gorilla Trekking station so you will only need a short 2 minute walk in the morning to get ready for your trek.
Note: Gorilla Permits are extra from $450-650 per trek depending on time of year which will be secured at the time of booking as they are limited
