Sanctuary Escarpment Luxury Lodge

Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania

Offering a magnificent view over Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley, this modern lodge works well as an overnight stop or a base for visiting different parks in northern Tanzania. We think it’s more like a boutique hotel than a lodge, one that celebrates the tranquility of nature and helps romance to flourish.

The 16 suites are some of the nicest rooms we’ve seen anywhere in East Africa. Think bathtubs with a view, lounge areas dotted with antiques, and a dreamy four-poster bed. With Sanctuary Escarpment Luxury Lodge you escape in style and it’s sometimes hard to drag yourself away from the room.

The lodge is well positioned as a first night’s stop for anyone of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. We’d also recommend it as an idyllic base for discovering three nearby parks. You’re just outside Lake Manyara National Park and a game drive takes you to tree-climbing lions and hippo-filled lake. Tarangire is within easy day-trip reach, while the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is just a 40-minute drive away. Add in the unusual Lake Natron and this lodge is perfect for those who want to explore, without having to continually change accommodation.

After a day’s exploring there will be a massive smile on your face as you return to the lodge. Indulge in the spa, melt away in the pool, and dine on a breezy terrace overlooking the lake.

Safari activities aren’t included as standard but we can pre-book a dream safari program in advance.

Children are welcome but we feel that Sanctuary Escarpment Luxury Lodge is much more suited to couples than families.
