Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Nestled in a secluded area of southern central Serengeti, Serengeti Pioneer Camp is a luxury eco camp that transports you back to the 1930’s safari era. With spectacular views of Moru Kopjes and plains abundant in big cats and game, we love the traditional African feel to this camp.
The décor in each of the 12 tents is charming and nostalgic, the dark wood writing desk and chests adding a vintage vibe. All of the tents feature a double bed, a small outdoor seating area adorned with cosy lanterns, and an en-suite bathroom with solar-heated showers to limit their impact on the environment. One of the tents is built for families, with two bedrooms and a shared veranda.
Walk up the rocky hill and you’ll find the lounge and dining area, both adopting an old-world style that’s both comfortable and stylish. The dining area is wonderful, its al fresco style perfect for dining under the stars.
The surrounding area is incredible too. We love taking lunch up to the scenic picnic site that overlooks the jagged plains full of leopard, lion and rhino, and many of the gigantic boulders are decorated with ancient Masai paintings. Don’t miss the chance to see the gong rocks too – they produce beautiful musical sounds when hit with smaller rocks.
