Summerfields Rose Retreat & Spa
Kruger National Park, South Africa
Just ten minutes from the Kruger National Park in leafy Hazyview, this luxurious boutique lodge is the perfect place to relax and unwind either before or after your safari experience. This is a place where you can feel the stress lift from your shoulders from the moment you arrive.
Full of charm, the 12 luxury tented suites are linked by wooden walkways and are set among the beautiful surrounding forest. We love that each of the rooms has a private deck with either a forest or river view, giving you a serene area to sit and enjoy a good book whilst sipping a refreshing drink and taking in the beautiful fragrance of the roses that Summerfields are renowned for. Our favourite thing about the luxury tents here are the outside baths. There really isn’t anything more relaxing than taking a rose scented bath with the sounds of nature all around you. Cascading water, the bird chorus and the occasional snort of a hippo all adding to your unique experience.
If you are on Honeymoon, we would recommend the larger forest room for ultimate privacy. As well as a complementary mini-bar it has a full opening front door which allows the sounds and fragrances of the lush forest outside to seep in.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the award-winning River Café is beautifully located on the Sabie River and incorporates vegetables from their organic gardens as well as other fresh locally sourced produce. If you love your gin you are in for a treat as Duke Gin is distilled and bottled on the estate and each bottle is individually signed as a tribute to its authenticity. A great accompaniment to the sumptuous food on offer.
For total escapism the aptly named Rose Spa is open daily. With a backdrop of bush-clad mountains and with it being situated right on the banks of the river, this fantastic spa gives you the chance to completely relax and refresh your mind and your soul.
When you are done with relaxing there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied. Rose tours, macadamia tours and farm tours are all offered on site as well as scenic heliopter flights, archery, mountain biking and morning and afternoon game drives into the Kruger National Park all being available in the area. This is also a great base to explore the Panorama Route which is home to the Blyde River Canyon.
