Lewa House
Laikipia Conservancy Areas, Kenya
Resembling a traditional African hut, Lewa House is an idyllic and quaint lodge nestled in Kenya’s Northern Frontier. A family-owned lodge, we love the utterly charming ambience evoked here, and how guests are always welcomed with open arms.
From rustic dinners under the stars and relaxing on the main veranda overlooking a wildlife abundant waterhole, Lewa House will entice you into enjoying the traditional African safari lifestyle, living in the wild and enjoying the natural beauty surrounding you.
We love the four Earth Pods’ unique architecture, with their kooky thatched roofs and curved walls, as well as the rural décor and indulgent outdoor baths with an incredible backdrop of Kenya’s endless plains. There are also three Family Cottages, all built using traditional Lewa architecture of exposed stone walls and featuring two bedrooms and a comfortable outdoor seating area. This lodge caters well to children offering picnic suppers and early dinners with a range of interactive activities from fishing for crabs to training with tracking dogs.
One of our favourite parts of this lodge is the brilliant activities on offer. Afternoon teas in the main house are regularly greeted with Go-Away birds searching for stray cake crumbs, whilst fishing is given an adrenaline-fuelled edge with helicopter rides to particular fishing spots. There’s even the opportunity to partake in a unique horse or camel ride, giving you the chance to ride with the giants.
