Giraffe Manor & Kenya Safari
Giraffe Manor is famous for those iconic scenes with the resident Rothschild Giraffe joining you for breakfast. It’s a truly memorable experience that will stay with you for a lifetime. It does come with a price tag of course but we think it's well worth it for those with the budget.
It’s the perfect start to your wildlife journey. We will tailor everything to follow your needs and this varies tremendously based on the comfort levels and experiences you want, as well as finding the perfect length of safari for you based on the full experience you need.
However, we do recommend a couple of safari locations and properties that tie in nicely with your giraffe experience as they are in the same group, ensuring your service levels are consistent from start to end of your trip.
Nairobi
On arrival, we will meet you at Nairobi Airport and transfer you privately to Giraffe Manor for check in and to enjoy your first day in Africa. Your flight arrival time will determine quite how much you can do on your first day and your first giraffe interactions.
On your second day, your excitement levels will rise the moment you wake up with the anticipation of your breakfast and a visit from friendly giraffe to come and check out what you are having to eat and drink – well, really to see what you have to feed them from your breakfast table.
During the day, relax and enjoy the whole experience. It's quite easy to venture out close by to view local art or jewellery making.
Two nights at Giraffe Manor, Full Board
Laikipia – Solio Game Reserve
On your third day you will get the opportunity to have breakfast with the resident giraffe again – but a little earlier as we will have arranged your transport onwards quickly after your early breakfast.
A short transfer away will have you into Wilson Airport for your quick flight up to Nanyuki where you will be met and transferred to the lodge 30 minutes away. It is possible to arrange private flights landing directly into the reserve which will save a little time getting you there.
Check in, have lunch and relax before taking a later afternoon game drive to explore the private 45 acres of game reserve. There is a wide range of wildlife residing here including both black and white rhino which is a real treat to see these incredible animals up close.
Morning and evening game drives will be available as part of your stay. We also recommend a trip out during one of your days to a local coffee plantation so you can see and sample why Kenya is a leading country for coffee production in the world
A good alternative to this is Sasaab Lodge in Samburu, also in this hotel group but with a slightly different feel and landscape, located in the main National Park rather than a private conservation area.
Three nights at Solio Lodge, Full Board
Masai Mara National Park
After breakfast, head back to Nanyuki for your flight to the Mara. You will be met at the airstrip and taken to camp. You will enjoy your first Mara wildlife encounters on route to camp.
Your luxury camp is located by the Sand River close to the border with Tanzania. This is an ideal location year round, but for those of you seeking a migration safari experience you will be in the heart of the action when visiting at the early start of migration season, generally in July and August when the wildebeest and zebra start to make their crossing northwards into the Mara from the Serengeti. You will have to book up very early for this season – usually over a year in advance as the camp is in such high demand in this peak migration season.
You will be treated morning and afternoon game drives throughout your stay
You have enough time with this stay to take either a private bush breakfast or a bush dinner which will make for a memorable end to your safari experience
Three nights at Salas Camp, Full Board
On your last morning, enjoy one last game drive squeezing those last pictures onto your cameras memory card before we will transfer you to the local landing strip for your onwards journey.
We highly recommend taking a Mombasa Air flight straight to the coast for a relaxing stay by the beach for four to five nights. You will be very tired after your safari experience as you will have maximised your time with early mornings and late nights so this is a great way to unwind whilst keeping an African feel to your trip. We have a large range of places to stay we can recommend.
