The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille
Laikipia Conservancy Areas, Kenya
Consisting of four luxurious private houses, The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille is a very indulgent affair, perfect for those looking for a truly exclusive safari experience. Perched on a rocky outcrop in the private Ol Lentille Conservancy, we love how every corner of the retreat has a unique view.
Located in Northern Lakipia, this luxurious lodge is ideal as part of a longer safari, in combination with a game-rich area such as the Mara, as the game viewing here isn’t quite as spectacular and the main focus is activities.
This lodge is perfect for families, the large private houses are spacious and luxurious, with breath-taking views. Whilst the wide range of exciting activities and spa treatments make this unique safari experience of both adventure and relaxation.
Sanctuary at Ol Lentille is renowned for its immersive walking safaris, guided by Samburu and Masai warriors. Enjoy a myriad of activities from camel safari and mountain biking or quad biking to cultural visits to local villages and schools. During your stay enjoy unlimited spa treatments, end your day with a relaxing massage or yoga with spectacular views.
First is The Sultan’s House, a beautiful thatched properly built into gigantic, natural stones and clearly inspired by the Swahili coast. We love the delicate décor here, including the charming Swahili plaster carvings, whilst the living room and bedroom have remarkable views of a waterhole regularly adorned with inquisitive elephants.
The Chief’s House is minimalist and elegant, decorated with colourful African artefacts that marry well with the jaw-dropping views of mountains. This private house has three bedrooms, a living room and a dining room, making it perfect for large families. Our favourite part is the master bedroom’s outdoor bath set amongst the rocks – it’s the perfect place to relax.
Then there’s The Colonel’s House, with spectacular views of the soaring Mt Kenya and kooky campaign décor including oriental carpets and brass furnishings. This house has two floors – the upper level is host to two bedrooms with scenic verandas, whilst downstairs you’ll find a cosy sitting room with a cool dining room beautifully decorated with antique maps.
Fancy mingling with other guests? The large infinity pool is a beautiful spot to toast to Kenya’s naturally beautiful scenes of never ending savannahs, rolling hills, and towering mountains.
