Solio Lodge

Laikipia Conservancy Areas, Kenya

Wonderfully remote from the wider populace, this world-renowned rhino breeding reserve is the absolute quintessence of the African safari you have been dreaming of. Brought to reality by Solio Lodge, the five sumptuously chic cottages are just as impressive as the endless, wildlife-filled vistas that surround them.

We find it hard to know where to begin when describing the remarkable Solio Lodge. Five stunning cottages, clad with traditional South African thatched roofs, are interspersed across the 45,000-acre Solio ranch. Less is more at Solio as these cottages and the few other facilities on offer are the only signs of mankind you will find imprinted over the vast 45,000 acres of staggering scenery.

Welcomingly sequestered from the rest of the world, the privacy proffered at Solio Lodge means you can find yourself truly at one with the nature and wildlife abounding at this sanctuary. In the immediate 19,000 acres that the conservancy spans you can spot rhino, giraffe, warthog, zebra, buffalo, waterbuck and impalas, whilst a game drive invites you to behold leopard, lion and cheetah.

Thanks to the cottages’ floor-to-ceiling windows optimising the unforgettable sights, you won’t miss a thing, even when in the comfort of your bed. Luxurious yet contemporary, we think these cottages are almost as dazzling as that which surrounds them. Fit with private decks, open fires, en-suite bathrooms and an interior style that is refreshingly elegant yet strewn with subtle Kenyan influences, we are confident that you will be as enchanted by Solio Lodge as we are.

Ready to be enjoyed by adults and children alike, an array of adventures celebrating Africa are included in this full-board stay, including guided walks, mountain biking, horse riding, and birdwatching.

If you are struggling to absorb the full wonder of Solio Lodge from foot, we recommend taking to the sky on a helicopter ride to Mount Kenya for a panoramic picnic like no other. Or, for a similarly sublime winged adventure, there is Aberdare National Park where, as you ascend through the varying altitudes, you will be met with waterfalls, bamboo forests, volcanic orifices, elephants, and streams abounding with trout.
