Kicheche Mara Camp

Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

Blending into the vivid surroundings of the Mara North Conservancy, this simple camp maximises your experience with nature. Wake to wildebeest grazing outside, dine with elephants roaming past, and drift to sleep on nature’s lullaby. If you want to see the Masai Mara away from the crowds, Kicheche Mara Camp is an excellent choice.

Each of the eight tents is spacious and neatly designed, although there are no opulent extras. Instead it’s simple and unfussy, with a flushing toilet and hot bucket shower. You’re surrounded by wildlife and we’ve often woke to grazing animals just the other side of the canvas. It’s this wild experience that makes Kicheche Mara Camp so special and we can’t get enough of it.

Game drives mostly focus on the private Mara North Conservancy, adding a layer of exclusivity to the safari experience. The area is thriving with big cats and a multi-day safari should bring lions, leopards, and cheetahs. On a three-night stay you’ll also have the option of a full day in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The guiding is excellent and every drive is very flexible. Take out a bush picnic or bush lunch, swap the vehicle for a game walk, or sit back and enjoy the show from your tent.

This camp doesn’t compromise on comfort and the location is outstanding. We’d recommend it for anyone wanting a no-thrills safari that’s predominantly focused on wildlife and wilderness.
