Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya
Kicheche Valley Camp creates an atmosphere of safari chic in a secluded part of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. It finds an exceptional balance between modern luxuries and an authentic bush experience, helping to slowly ease you into wild Africa.
This is the newest of the three Kicheche camps and has a much more luxurious feel than their Mara and Bush camps. Yet there’s still a wonderful impression of being alone in the wild and the surrounding area is a haven for a whole host of wildlife. We’ve found the big cat sightings to be legendary, while the numbers of elephant and giraffe passing the camp take the breath away.
Varied activities help you build a complete picture of the Mara. You’ll game drive through eclectic habitats and savour intimate encounters with all the famous Mara animals. Bush walks are a great addition and you’re close enough to the Mara River for a day in the most famous part of the plains. Kicheche Valley Camp effortlessly creates a very rounded safari experience so it’s ideal for first-time visitors to Africa.
The tents bring in all the sounds and smells of the wild. However, the bathrooms are of an upmarket hotel standard and there’s a level of comfort that’s hard to rival in other tented camps. If you’re unsure about a tented camp, then this would be a great place to start.
