Rhino River Camp

Meru National Park, Kenya

With the slow-flowing Kindani River trickling past and lush forest surrounding it, Rhino River Camp is comfortingly quiet. We love how intimate this luxury tented camp is – staying here feels like your own little private slice of Meru National Park.

There are just six tented ‘cottages’, including five standard tents with a double bed and a bathroom, and the Karen Blixen Suite that boasts a sitting room (that can be turned into a second bedroom), two bathrooms, a balcony and a plunge pool. All of the tents are made with camel canvas and sustainably grown wood raising them above the river, adding to the eco-friendliness of this beautiful retreat. Each room has its own ‘zen’ area too, for those moments where you want a bit of time to yourself to read a good book.

Surrounded by raffia palms and looking out over the river, the main lounge, dining and library areas offer a peaceful spot to relax in between game drives. There’s also a lovely bar area perfect for a sunset cocktail before dinner. One of our favourite parts of this camp is it’s cuisine. Inspired by Italy, every dish tastes wonderfully fresh. During the day, take a dip in the swimming pool right by a tranquil stream, and enjoy private access to the incredible Rhino Sanctuary, which is home to 66 white and black rhinos.
