Governors' Lakes, Mara and Gorillas
Explore the beautiful lakes of Kenya and the phenomenal wildlife of the Masai Mara before getting up close and personal with the Gorillas of Rwanda.
Great Rift Valley
Your amazing African experience begins with a delightful stay at Loldia House in the stunning Great Rift Valley. From here you will enjoy fantastic views of Mount Longonot, the dormant volcano, as well as the wild animals that can be seen roaming freely on the ranch. Experiences here are plentiful. Gain an insight into the life of Kenya’s early settlers, take part in game and bird viewing by boat on Lake Naivasha, enjoy a trip to Hell’s Gate National Park, known for its’ interesting geology and steam geysers, or take part in a community visit to the local school at Loldia.
Masai Mara
After two wonderful nights it is time to move on to the next exciting segment of your trip. A short flight and you will be in the heart of the Masai Mara, one of Kenya’s best wildlife viewing areas. Governors’ Camp has a magnificent location right on the Mara River, teaming with birdlife, hippo and crocodile. We love that the bar tent and deck overlook the Mara River rewarding you with magical views and the dining tent gives you uninterrupted views over the plains. If you are here between the months of July and October you may be lucky enough to witness one and a half million wildebeest and vast numbers of zebra and gazelles make the long and dangerous trek north from the drier lands of Tanzania. As well as the fantastic game drives that you will enjoy during your stay, you will have the chance of a wildlife viewing adventure with a difference when you take to the skies in a hot air balloon just as the sun rises. This is definitely up there with one of our most favourite experiences.
Volcanoes National Park
After a fun packed three nights it is time to say goodbye to Kenya and ‘Muraho Bite’ to Rwanda. Your flight takes you via Nairobi to Kigali where you will enjoy a two and a half-hour drive through exquisite scenery to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge where you will spend your final two nights. The lodge is located close to the headquarters of the Volcanoes National Park from where guests trek on foot to see the magnificent mountain gorilla, perhaps one of the most dramatic, thrilling and poignant wildlife experiences possible. This lodge affords the most stunning views of the volcanoes and surrounding countryside. As well as the eight mountain gorilla families living on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the golden monkey is a local subspecies of the Skyes monkey (blue monkey) and is endemic to the high-altitude forests of this National Park. With this superb itinerary we think you will bring home memories that you will treasure forever.
