Sand River Camp

Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

Transport back to the 1920’s explorer era at Sand River, a charming camp nestled in a secluded area of Masai Mara Game Reserve. Luxurious yet still authentic, we love the opulent sense of style here, and the camp is perched right on the incredible wildebeest migration route.

With stairs leading up to the outdoor veranda, the 16 tents feel indulgent before you even step inside. With 11 double bed tents, four twin bed tents, and one family tent with two double bedrooms and a lounge, all of the tents have fancy interiors, with lovely seating areas and old-style furnishings.

The tents are split into two adjoining camps – one with 10 tents, and the other with six. Each camp has its own cosy lounge and dining area, again decorated with gorgeous traditional African rugs and furnishings to create a comfortable ambience, whilst the shared swimming pool is a picturesque place to relax and watch wildlife roam by.

Located far away from other camps, Sand River is desirably exclusive, yet the camp itself is still sociable and friendly thanks to the fun games tent fit with a fun billiards table and board games. The game drives are incredible throughout the whole year too – the Masai Mara is abundant in magnificent big cats, from majestic cheetah and leopards, to large prides of lion.
