Camp Ya Kanzi

Chyulu Hills National Park, Kenya

Inimitable and innovative, Campi ya Kanzi is a fabulous way to immerse yourself in the wildlife and culture of Chyulu Hills. Masai warriors lead you on walking safaris while game drives circle captivating green hills that are dappled with four-legged grazers. Then you retire to spacious tents that offer views all the way across to Mount Kilimanjaro.

The rustic tented suites mix Italian and local influence, while the lounge and dining area are perfect for a sundowner overlooking the green hills. If you’re on a long Kenyan safari, the distinctive design will be a welcome change from the traditional tented camp style.

This luxury camp is heavily connected with a local Masai community and you’ll immediately see a rare harmony between nature, tribal community, and luxury tourist experience. We find the staff to be amongst the most welcoming anywhere in Africa (we appreciate that this is a very bold claim), and their knowledge of the land adds another layer to every safari activity.

Your safari program will be individually designed based on your mood and interests. Bush walks leave straight from the camp and you’ll encounter plenty of impala, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle, and the resplendent Masai giraffe. Game drives are beautiful in the day and thrilling at night. We’d highly recommend the sunrise drive into Chyulu cloud forest, where the wildlife is scarce but the setting is otherworldly. You’ll also be invited into a local Masai community and it’s a blissfully low-key and relaxed interaction.
